Taekwondo Tournaments

Tournaments are an important part of Taekwondo for students who choose to challenge themselves in a competitive environment. At USMA Taekwondo, we provide opportunities for students at all levels to experience competition in a structured, supportive, and positive way.

Under the guidance of Master Cariotis, who has extensive experience in both Australian and international competition—including representing Australia as a coach—students are trained with a strong understanding of both performance and preparation.

A Supportive Introduction to Competition

We understand that entering a tournament for the first time can feel intimidating.

That’s why we run in-house tournaments, organised by Master Cariotis and supported by senior students. These events provide a comfortable and familiar environment where students can:

  • learn how tournaments work
  • experience sparring and patterns in a competition setting
  • build confidence before entering larger events
  • enjoy the experience alongside people they train with

Because students already know each other, these events are not only valuable for learning, but also enjoyable and encouraging.

Local and International Opportunities

For students who wish to take their training further, there are opportunities to compete at local, national, and international levels.

USMA Taekwondo has a strong history of competition success, with students achieving results at:

  • Australian tournaments
  • Asian Championships
  • European Championships
  • World Championships

This includes multiple medal performances, including gold, reflecting both the quality of training and the dedication of the students.

His approach focuses not only on performance, but also on:

  • preparation and mindset
  • technical development
  • maintaining strong fundamentals under pressure

USMA Taekwondo has also received wider recognition, including being featured on A Current Affair following outstanding results at an Asian Championship event.

Participation Is Optional

While competition is available for those who are interested, it is not required.

Students can choose to:

  • participate in tournaments
  • train for personal development
  • or simply enjoy Taekwondo as part of their routine

All paths are respected, and training remains focused on developing each student according to their goals.

  • apply their skills in a different environment
  • grow both mentally and physically

For many students, it becomes an important part of their Taekwondo journey—but always within a supportive and well-guided structure.
